Mountain Retreat Timeshare Estates is an RCI affiliate Gold Crown Resort nestled in the quiet Sierra pines of Arnold, California in Calaveras County. The Retreat is 2 to 4 hours drive from Lake Tahoe depending on route taken and time of the year, 3 hours from Yosemite, and 3+ hours from most San Francisco Bay Area locations. The Mt Retreat complex was developed between 1981 and 1983 and By RCI standards, all condos will sleep 6 privately and up to 8 using the standard quality fold out couch. The condominiums are duplex style (one style, the Calistoga, is a triplex) with numerous stairs that afford optimum privacy (See Accommodations).

Calaveras County is located in the heart of the Motherlode area of the 1849 Gold Rush with many historic places to go site seeing throughout the year. The area also abounds with numerous award wining wineries that are open year round for wine tasting. Outdoor sports in the general area (within an hours drive) range from golfing, hiking, rock climbing, and boating during most of the year to skiing, tubing, and sledding in the winter (refer to Things To Do). For those who just wish to relax in a quiet, out of the way, mountain forest atmosphere, Mt Retreat is the place to be.

Arnold is a small town located in the Stanislaus National Forest. The full time population is somewhere around 7000. The elevation is 4200 feet. At this level you can enjoy snow at times in the winter; pleasent days in Spring & Fall; and warm temperatures and mild evenings in the summer months.
