ANSWER:                 Mountain Retreat was built in the early eighties and has been virtually "sold out" for years. Therefore, we have no real reason to market ourselves. We have no brochures. This website is the best resource of information for Mountain Retreat that exists. If you can't find the information you want, ask specific questions when you e-mail us.

QUESTION:               Are there many stairs?

ANSWER:                  The units are multi-level with many stairs.

QUESTION:               Are any of the units wheel chair friendly?

ANSWER:                 Mountain Retreat was built before there were building requirements for wheelchair accessibility. All units are multi-level with only stair access; and therefore, are not able to accommodate wheelchairs .

QUESTION:               What are your check-in days?

ANSWER:                  Check-in and check out is on Saturday.

Check in Time is:              4:00 PM

Check-out time is:           10:00 AM.

QUESTION:               Do you have rentals, and what are your rates?

ANSWER:                  Although most people who stay here at Mountain Retreat are either owners or RCI exchanges who own at other RCI resorts, sometimes we do have rentals. See our rental page.

QUESTION:               What's the weather like?

ANSWER:                  The weather in Arnold is capable of changing at a moments notice, especially in the winter. If you come and stay between November and May, you should carry tire chains as we do receive annual snowfall of about 5 feet each year. It is actually illegal to travel locally without them, even 4-wheel drive vehicles. According to a climate survey compiled at Big Trees State Park which is just 4 miles from Mountain Retreat, average temperatures are as follows: January: high = 67, low = 39. May: high = 65, low = 38. July: high = 83, low = 51. October: high = 67, low = 39.

QUESTION:               Are the sofa beds comfortable?

ANSWER:                 Our sofa beds are of standard quality. Sofa beds are not noted for being comfortable and neither are ours.

QUESTION:               How long will it take me to get there from the airport?

ANSWER:                The times stated here are for automobile travel time only, in favorable conditions (good weather, no traffic, no wrong turns).

From Sacramento Airport 3 hours.

From San Francisco Airport 3 to 3 1/2hours.

From Reno Airport 5 hours (via Hwy 80) if Ebbetts Pass is closed which it usually is from November through May. During the summertime, travel time will be about 3 hours via Ebbetts Pass.

QUESTION:               Does Mountain Retreat have any condos for sale?

ANSWER:                  Yes, even though we are "virtually sold out" the developer often has a small, rotating inventory of units for sale at very low prices. For more info on this, see our sales page.

QUESTION:               I will be staying in unit XX, can I see a picture or floor plans for it?

ANSWER:                  Pictures of most units are posted on the home page of this website. The floor plans are located under "Accommodations".

QUESTION:              Do you have a swimming pool on site?

ANSWER:                 Yes, we have a small, indoor swimming pool in our Its maximum capacity is 14 people. Also in the Recreation Center we have a hot tub, sauna, racquetball/basketball court, pool table and big screen TV. Owners and guests also have free access to the large outdoor pool at Kline's Fitness Center which is just 4 miles away. It is open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.

QUESTION:               What's the best time to stay at Mountain Retreat?

ANSWER:                 Anytime. Summer is our most popular time but this is probably because summer itself is the most popular vacation time. Fall & Spring are both wonderful weather times. The grass is green with prolific wildflowers in the spring. The trees are showing their beautiful colors in the fall. If you really want peace & quiet, we have fewer children stay during the school year. Wintertime recreation abounds but you must be ready & willing to deal with snow as it is likely. Skiing, sledding, snowshoeing and amazing views to top it all off.
